“The title of this project is a an obvious reference to some cinematic conventions, types of characters and moods, but is also mainly intended to point to a certain expressionism in image and tone. The idea here is to explore the photographic frame as a scene. Not as a tableau, which may imply a certain stillness, but as a duration.
The intention, though, is not to mimic a cinematic frame but to stay grounded in a photographic idea of the image. The viewer unfolds the extension of the movement in its surface, and the characters here constantly look back and engage him or her directly in their gaze.” (Manuel Sousa, 2010)
